TAxes not Paid

I checked my escrow balance this morning, and I discovered that my property taxes have not been paid yet. They were paid last year in October. The deadline to pay them this year is Jan. 1st. Should I go on and pay it myself to ensure that they are not late? If so, can I recoup that money from my mortgage company? Would I have any recourse if they failed to pay the taxes in time?

Contact the mortgage company, and I hope you'll be told they intend to pay before the deadline is up.  If they fail to, and there's a late charge, they're required to pay it.
Let me know what happens; I'm interested.
