Renting Out Florida Condo

I own a Townhome in Daytona Beach, FlL and I am renting it Jan-March of 08.

Someone is telling me I have to pay some type of tax to rent the property. Is this true. I am I licensed real estate saleperson in Illinois and I know of no such requirement in IL.

How would a county or state regulate this anyhow?

I don't know any more than you do about it.  Perhaps landlords are subject to Florida's business tax.  But if you're going to be a long-distance landlord, it would be a good idea to have a real estate lawyer down there anyhow, and while you're looking for one, there's a good first question to ask.
Let me know what you find out; I'm interested.
