Updating the Kitchen |
| |
 |
If I replace my formica counter tops in the kitchen (price $2700) and replace my linoluem in a large kitchen with tile ($2,000) will I get my money back. I feel the kitchen should be updated to get the highest price possible.
Thank you. |

Unless you plan on selling within the next few years, you should make improvements for your own satisfaction. As for whether you'd recoup your investment if you did sell soon after -- that depends on a lot of things I don't know. How bad is the kitchen now? What's the price level of homes in your area? How does yours compare with the neighbors'? Local real estate brokers who are active in your area know more than I can about buyers' expectations in your location. You can call a few offices and ask for advice over the phone -- or if you think you may be selling within a couple of years, ask if they'll send someone over to advise you. YOu won't have any obligation, and those local agents can judge better than I can. |
