Timeshares Yet Again |
| |
 |
My husband and I have two timeshares we want to sell. We have been receiving phone calls to sell our timeshares, but they want money up front. We did do this twice and nothing happened, plus we did not hear a word from the companies after. Can you tell us the best way to sell these timeshares? Should we go through a realtor? |

If you'd asked me earlier, I would have told you not to give anyone upfront money to "sell" your timeshares. If you are ready to just get rid of your timeshares, without getting any money for them, here are a few ways: Ask the developer or management if they'll take them. Place ads on Craig's List and classifed ads in local papers where they're located, offering them for free. Ask your own lawyer what is likely to happen if you just stop paying the fees and walk away. (This won't work if you owe on mortgages.) If you still hope to get some money from a sale, you can talk to local real estate brokers where the timeshares are located. But the prp[erties would sell for so little that they won't warrant an agent's time and effort, unless they carry a large commission. |
