Dear Ms. Lank: My wife told me to read the story about that agent who scammed the sellers with a fake contract and fake buyers.
I was most appalled at your lack of reporting--not letting the rest of us know the name of the real estate franchise. This just tells me where the money flows. It eliminates your creditability as a "expert". It shows you have been bought. The "franchise" is as responsible as the agent.
I agree. The franchise should be held responsible, and you’ll notice I did advise that it be contacted. If I wanted to publish the name of the company, I'd need to talk with their national headquarters, interview the local managing broker, get the weird agent's side of the story, talk with the unhappy non-sellers and check with the state's licensing agency.
None of that is my job. You were exactly right when you cited a “lack of reporting” . I’m not an investigative reporter. I’m a columnist who provides information and advice on real estate matters.
