Greetings from Rochester, NY:
We've just bought a house and would like to put our existing home on the market asap. I know this time of year isn't TRADITIONALLY a great time to sell, however since the house we're selling would be an excellent choice for first time homebuyers who have the incentive of an $8000 tax credit, we're of the mind to list NOW. (We are also not thrilled with the thought of 2 mortgages, however temporary that situation might be.) Wondering what your thoughts are on selling in Nov./Dec. Thanks!
By all means, put your home on the market promptly. You have nothing to lose by exposing it on the market immediately. While fewer buyers are out looking in the next couple of months, those who are getting ready to slog through the snow (assuming we ever get any around here) -- those who do house-hunt in the dark months clearly mean business. And you'll have fewer properties in competition with yours, because many sellers do indeed wait for spring.
