We live in a duplex. We own our half and my in-laws own their half. Can we sell our half and get our half of the equity?

You don't say how you own your half -- as co-owners of the whole building, or as individual owners of your side. Either way, I suppose you could sell your part, but there's a big if -- you'd have to find a buyer who was willing to share the building with your in-laws. |
