Counter-Offer |
| |
 |
We have issued a counter off to a buyer. How long do we give them to respond to the offer? |

Your counter-offer should have included a statement about how long it was good for. If it didn't, and you ever had a dispute come up in court, a judge is likely to say your counter was binding for whatever period is typical in your area. As for how long you should give the would-be buyers to respond -- that depends on their situation and yours. In many areas a few days is a typical period. You probably wouldn't want your home tied up, and essentially off the market, for much longer than that while they make up their minds. |
