Dear Edith, We have a bi-level home and on the lower level is a "mother-in-law's" apartment with a sink and stove. I would so like to remove them and make another bedroom. But it was a selling point when we bought 17 years ago as I did a lot of canning then. So now I'm wondering if we were to sell, would it be a selling point with it or without it?
First of all, are you sure your local zoning allows a second kitchen arrangement? Call your town or city hall and investigate. You wouldn't want to offer something for sale that wasn't in compliance.
Beyond that, I don't know your market, I haven't seen your home, and I'm not the right person to answer the question. Call a couple of nearby real estate offices and ask for some free advice.
