Mortgage Hanky-Panky |
| |
 |
I bought a home and wanted both son and daughters names on title. Sometime after the closing my sons name was whited out off the title, and just my daughters name remained, over the whited out area in handwriting, not type, it said " a married woman, in fee simple" This allowed daughter to take out a second loan on my home, doubleing the mortgage payment, and causing me to lose the home. Its caused alot of trouble. We were never told at the closing that the mortga ge company demanded that my sons name be removed. Who's responsibility was it to inform of this title change ? Were there documents we should have that state the mortgage company wanted only one name on the title ? And is it legal to use white out on a title and hand write over it ? thank you |

It's not clear what happened, but there certainly was some hanky-panky involved. If I were you I'd take the whole thing to a real estate lawyer. I'd also contact the state agency that oversees mortgages in your area. Someone did something illegal, and the mortgage company should be investigated as well. I don't know if you can get your home back, but you should try whatever the lawyer thinks can be done. |
