Dear Ms. Lank: I am 50 years old. My home was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
I am now living in an apartment. I moved here to be close to my son and daughter-in-law. I am paying for a home that is no longer there. I have no plans to return to New Orleans.
I want to get a small home. If I pay off the old mortgage I will not qualify for a new loan. Any suggestions will be appreciated.
I’m afraid all I can offer is sympathy. Perhaps some day your lot may be worth something. Perhaps some special programs may open up for you. I’m including your letter mostly to remind people of the continuing problems you folks face.
