Damaged Credit |

My husband has never been late or missed a mortgage payment. His credit score was 740 a few months ago when we were going to refinance with our mtg. co....because of a mistake on the mtg. co. part, they reported that he missed a payment and his credit report score has gone down to 640. We are trying to get a loan on another property and this was a surprise to have the new lender tell us this. Is there anything legally we can do since they have damaged his great credit that he has worked so hard to keep? |

From your local librarian you can obtain addresses for the agency that regulates mortgages in your state, and also for the president or CEO of your mortgage servicer. Then you write a one-page letter to the mortgage company president explaining what happened and asking for a prompt correction with all three credit bureaus. Mention that you are sending a copy to the state agency, and do so. Then do write back and let me know what happens. |
