Dear Edith, What are the chances for a separated 52-year-young female, who filed for bankruptcy almost four years ago, who’s never owned her own home and has a good job, to be approved for a mortgage?
Assuming she hasn’t run up much in the way of new debts, her chances are pretty good. Some mortgage plans will ignore a bankruptcy when two years have passed since the discharge (not the filing.) Other mortgages require four years from discharge.
