They Are Joint Tenants

Edith, Our house deed reads joint tenants between my  husband, my dad, and myself. Recently my dad passed away.  Does joint tenants mean if anyone dies it automatically goes  to survivors? Will I need proof that my dad is deceased, and  if so will a certified copy of his death certificate do? Is  anything required from his executor?

No matter how simple an estate, a lawyer  should be consulted at least once, and that's the person to  advise about whether any paperwork is needed.  But yes, joint tenancy means the property is owned by a  group. If one member dies, the group is smaller but it still  owns the property
