My mother and aunt transferred their home to me before they past away. I did not refinance their loan in fear that I might not qualify. I continued to pay the loan as is for 2 years and then decided to refinance under my name. When I paid their loan off, there was an Escrow refund check of $2,000 BUT it is payable to my mother and aunt. I told the escrow company that they past away 2 years ago, that I had been paying the loan since and the property is in my name. They said they can only make the check payable to the names on that loan. Is there any way I can get this Escrow refund that I am entitled to?
Get in touch with the lawyers or administrators or executors who handled your mother's and aunt's estates. That's about all I can think of. Sorry I don't really have an answer. Perhaps someone else will write in and tell us what you should do.
