I bought a house from the owner. He said he would be out by the end of January and it looks like he will not be. He signed a paper saying he would be out by then. How do we go about getting him out now?? Do we call the police? and what do we have to do with his things once he is out? Do we have to store them for him?
Thanks Marian
Did you use a lawyer? Most attorneys don't advise their clients to close unless they get occupancy immediately. At any rate, a lawyer is the person to guide you at this point. I don't know the rules in Wisconsin, but in my state, if you get rid of a tenant through eviction, you must store their goods for 30 days. But I'm not sure if you can use an eviction when he isn't really your tenant. It may be a bit more complex, so you will certainly need a lawyer.
