Losing Ten Inches |
| |
 |
I own a vacant lot that my neighbor has aproached me and want to put a fence 10 inches into my property because of some bushes that have grown over the propert line and she wants to keep on her side. What problems could this have down the road? |

If the fence is on your property, it becomes your fence. You could even take it down any time you wanted. You could also trim the bushes back to the boundary line if you wanted. And as long as she's using the land with your permission, you probably are not in any danger of losing ownership of that strip. But whether you want to allow it or not is really your own decision. I suppose it might create a bit of confusion when and if you wanted to sell the lot.
It'd probably be simpler to suggest she cut back the bushes and put the fence on the boundary line. But I haven't seen the bushes and I don't know how you feel about the neighbor. In the end, it's up to you. |
