What youre asking about is known legally as an easement by necessity. The answer may lie in the history of that property, specifically by finding out who sold it in the landlocked situation, and whether they owned adjoining land. The whole question should be taken to a real estate lawyer, and I'd advise not buying until the matter is cleared up. |
