House as a Gift

MY FRIEND WANTS TO TURN OVER HIS HOUSE TO ME AND PUT IT IN MY NAME.WOULD I STILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH CREDIT CHECK?I HAVE VERY BAD CREDIT.I AM 60.

If the house has a mortgage on it, most likely that would have to be paid off when there's a change in ownership that doesn't involve a family member.  If there's no mortgage, it's a simple matter -- your friend can sign the place over to you any time.
