Fence Near Boundary
  If a fence is put up between property lines and it is not placed on boundary line, how far off the boundary line does it have to be? I thought it was 6 inches.
 
  Setbacks and sideyard restrictions are set by local building codes and will be different in one area than in another.  To find out what would apply in your case, call your town or city building bureau and ask.
