Co-Owners Disagree |

What can a person do if 3 people own a house together and 1 doesn't want to sell. Their are 3 peoples names on the house deed. |

Any one of the co-owners can go to court and ask for a forced sale and division of the proceeds. The process is known as "partition". (In some cases, this isn't available if the co-owners are husband and wife.) The main problem (aside from legal fees) is that the property is usually sold at a public auction similar to a foreclosure sale, and seldom yields as good a price as a normal sale on the open market would. Perhaps the one who doesn't want to sell, if faced with that possbility, might agree to a sale after all. |
