Buying a Parsonage

Situation: Couple buying a house that was a Presbyterian parsonage. Can you explain why the state courts must be involved? What other considerations should they be aware of? Offer has been accepted. Thank you!

I don't know just how that parsonage is owned, but it seems likely that some sort of trust, church organization or whatever might require approval by a court for the sale.  My guess is, nothing to worry about, except that as always when you're dealing with an institution, things may take a little longer.  I see you're in New York state, where it's usually customary to have your own lawyer for a purchase.  That's the person to explain the particular situation to you.
