About Mortgage Deed

Dear Ms. Lank,  What is a mortgage deed? My son and daughter-in-law bought a property with our financial help and that is the term on the papers we signed.

I’ve never heard the term “mortgage deed”, and it’s not in any of the real estate dictionaries I just consulted.  Is it possible your kids live in one of the states that uses “trust deeds” instead of mortgages?  If so, that’s a legal term for a different way of pledging real estate as security for a loan, and you can simply think of it as a mortgage.
