Tenants Splitting Up |
| |
 |
I am a landlord and I just signed a lease 2 weeks ago for a couple. Now the couple is splitting up and they both want the other person to leave and a new lease drawn up for them alone. However, only the man has a job and can afford the rent. Is there a way, I can legally get the woman off the lease or negate the lease all together? |

If you want to keep the man as your tenant, you don't have to do anything. He's obligated on the lease. So is the woman, but you could just ignore that part. No point in being drawn into their arguments, let them settle it. As for negating the lease, you can do that if monthly rent isn't paid as agreed in the lease document, with an eviction if necessary. As a landlord, you should have your own lawyer for guidance. |
