Late Paying Tenant |
| |
 |
There is a tenant in our rental house, she has been consistantly late 10-21 days with her rent. We have decided to sell the house and want her out. We gave her the option to buy the house but she doesn't want to pay our asking price. what can we do?

If you want her out, what you do next all depends on whether she has a lease or not. If not, you can tell her to leave, by giving her a full month's notice (from before the first of the month.) Send her a written notice to leave, registered mail. If she doesn't, you can start eviction proceedings. If she does have a lease, and you want her out, talk with a lawyer about eviction on the grounds of late payment. In the end, if you're anxious to get rid of her, some landlords will offer a few hundred dollars "to help with the move" to get a stubborn tenant out. Let me know what happens; I'm interested. |
