Boundary Problem

I purchased a home in July'06. We are having a problem with the neighbor about the property line. He states he pay taxes on a lot behind my garage and I states my deed shows I owe some of the lot. My deeds show 50x150. but my taxes paperwork, which i pay tax on states 50x100. I do not know which paperwork should I go by. the deed or the tax. I had a survey done, in which they are still investigated because they are confused. the surveyor said he has to go with the tax paperwork and not the deed. I am wondered what happen to the 50 feet. there is no amended or addition to the deed showing that 50 feet was sold. but the neighbor states he pay taxes on that lot. Do I have to get a lawyer. I thought whatever the deed states that how much property i have. confused help.......

If you have title insurance, the title company may handle the legal work necessary to defend your title to those 50 feet.  In any case, start by talking to the best real estate lawyer you can find.  This is important.  Yes, the deed shows that someone sold you those 50 feet, but the question may be, did that person own the 50 feet?  You need an attorney as soon as possible.
