Working With a Bank

My husband and I made an offer on a short sale. The sellers (owners) accepted the offer and then it went to the bank that had the property up for sale. We had filed the papers to open the escrow account when the bank counter offered but preferred to keep the counter offer a verbal offer rather that anything in writing. Is this okay? We are working with our realtor and she in turn is working with the bank's realtor.

In the sale of real estate, nothing counts unless it's in writing.  But dealing with a bank can be complicated -- there are committees and bureaucracies involved and it often takes patience.  Just hang in there and see what happens.  You may want to get your own real estate lawyer involved.
