i own a home with my boy friend , but we will be seperateing soon and i need to know what kind of options i have. he does not want to sell the house and i want to get some type of money out of it before i leave please let me know what i can do. |

You have the legal right to force a sale ("partition"). Talk with a lawyer. It would involve some legal expense, and unless you have quite a bit of equity (market value less the mortgage debt) you might not come out with anything, but it could be a way to get out of liability for the mortgage. And perhaps a letter from your lawyer pointing out the possibility would be enough to change your friend's mind. |
