Lovely Workmanship

I'm looking at a beautiful house that is the best on the block. The carpenter homeowner really has put in beautiful details in every room. It was a cape and they remodeled it to a colonial.
When figuring out what is the best price to offer do we take into consideration all of the woodwork, tile work that has been done or strictly look at comps in the surrounding area?
A remodeled home in the neighborhood sold within the last 2 years for approximately $70, 000 less than the home we're interested in now.

eople will pay only so much to live on a given street, and the owners of the finest place on the block probably can't recoup what they've spent on improvements.  I suspect somewhat the same appraisal guidline applies in the case of the workmanship you're talking about.  Of course the place is worth more because if it, and other buyers will appreciate it as you do.  So you'll have to expect to pay somewhat more than the comps, but probably not as much as the house would bring in a more expensive area.
