I was weeks away form closing on a home. Unfortunately the company I worked was closing down at the end of the year. I could'nt purchase the home. I'm wondering is my earnest money deposit nonrefundable. |

Your purchase contract may contain wording that explains your rights at this point. If your offer was contingent upon (or subject to) obtaining financing, and if you couldn't qualify for a loan after you lost your job, it's possible you could get your money back. If it's a large amount, take all the documents you have to a lawyer. If it's a few thousand dollars, you may want to represent yourself in small claims court and see what a judge has to say. |
