Listing Expired

If a house owner has previously listed a house for sale with a realtor for a year with no sale and the contract is now expired, how long does this person have to wait to sell this house without a realtor and without paying the previous listing realtor's fee?

The answer lies in the listing contract the owner signed with the Realtor.  No way I can tell without seeing the document.
