Lien Turns Up

I need your help. I just received an email from the realtor whose selling me this property. It says that there is a title lien of $10.000 . I got so mad , because, before buying the property, I asked her by email if there was any leins or encumbrances on the property, and she did reply by email that there was none. Now, I am almost ready to close, and I don't know what to do. I tried to contact her but she is not ansering her phone because of the weekend. Please help. Thanks

There's not much you can do, till the owner of the property makes some arrangement (if possible) to clear the lien.  You don't want to buy a problem along with the property.  As for the agent -- she is not a lawyer, and can't be expected to give an opinion on the quality of the title.  She should have said "As far as I know from what the seller says, there are no liens" or something like that.  She shouldn't have tried to sound more certain than that.
