Land in Two Towns Now

  I own a cabin in a town.
that town got int0o a dispute with another town and now my property line has change and my land is in two towns.

Now I have been told i am stuck paying for taxes for both towns. Is this illegal or is there something wrong with this ?

I hope your total tax in the two towns isn't any more than it was when all the land was in a single town.  The building itself should only be taxed in one town or the other.  If that's not the case, you can take all the documents to a real estate lawyer and ask for advice.  Or you can protest the tax in each town.  But I suspect you're stuck with two bills.
