Kitchen Countertop Old |
| |
 |
Our house is old. The countertop is from the 50's and is very "used". Can you give an "estimate" of how much we would gain by installing a new kitchen countertop - we can't afford granite though! Your response would be greatly appreciated. |

I don't know price levels in your neighborhood, nor how your home compares with its neighbors. There's no one right rule for how much an improvement adds to probably sale price, which is, I assume, what you're asking about. If you're going to remain there for some years, go ahead and make the change for your own enjoyment. If you're thinking about putting the property on the market soon, then call several real estate brokerages that are active in your area, and ask them to give you advice, either over the phone or in person. You won't have any obligation, either way. They can judge better than I can from this distance. |
