Identity of Buyer

Is it legal for another real estate office (A) to ask for the name of the potential buyer when another real estate office(B) asks to show one of their (A's) listed properties?

I suppose A could ask, but I also suppose B could refuse, particularly if B's client had requested anonymity. And if A said "In that case you can't show the property" I'd think A was violating the duty to act in the seller's best interest. Of course the seller might have said "Get the names of everyone who comes in", in which case the buyer could properly be refused. Many agents want the names of all prospects so that they're protected against future non-commission sales to the same people.
