Choosing an Agent

I would like to know about choosing a Realtor. I was wondering what to expect. Like how much avertising to expect. Also, for how long when the house is taking a long time. What type of avertising for a higher end home. Like where and what type of web sites, magazines etc. You help would be truely appreciated.

You already know something about the process if you know enough to capitalize the word "Realtor", which of course belongs to a member of a private trade organization and is not a state-issued license.
Call at least three brokerages that are active in your neighborhood (read classifed ads, search the Internet, drive around looking for lawn signs.)  Ask them to send someone over.  Then you can ask just the questions you want, including their marketing plan for your property. Be sure the broker you choose belongs to a local multiple listing system, so that lots of agents can work on your property.  Ask about back-up help when your agent may be unavailable.  ASk for advice on giving yoru place a doll-up for the market.

But frankly, when a widely-exposed place stays on the market for a long time, it's because the buying public has decided it's not worth the asking price.  When "the house is taking a long time" the best remedy is to drop the price.
