Buying Older Home

My son is about to purchase a older home, what are some of the basic questions he needs to ask prevouis owner. Thanks

A good all-purpose question, in front of witnesses, is "would you please tell me about any major problems with this property that I can't see for myself?"
Your son is well-advised to specify, in his purchase offer, that he has the right to send in his own home inspector, and that the contract will only become firm if he's satisfied with the inspector's report.
In many states, the seller must provide a written statement about the property's condition before your son makes his purchase offer.
