Dear Edith: I and 29 years old and want to purchase a home together with my father. My question is - what are the advantages or disadvantages of buying a home "for sale by owner". My father has about 75K to put down on a house. We're a family of four, wife, daughter, son. |

If the seller isn’t getting professional help, it’s particularly important that you do. Hire your own buyer’s broker, someone who can advise you whether the asking price seems right, speak frankly about the condition of the property, help you negotiate the lowest possible purchase price, assist in arranging financing, and guide you all the way through to the closing. With that much cash at stake, you should also make your purchase contract “subject to the approval of my attorney” and have a lawyer on your side as well. |
