Builder Dropped the Price

I am building a home and have a $2000 deposit against it. I was just informed they have droped the price $20K. Is the builder obligated to reduce the price of the home since we have not closed at this point?

Your contract would say whether the builder was obligated to give you the same price reduction. My bet is that they're not.  But you may be in a fairly strong position, if you're willing to take some risks.  You might threaten to drop out if you don't get the reduction -- that would probably be much more effective and not so risky if it were done by a lawyer negotiating for you.  It might be worth the lawyer's fees, if you had the right one talking for you.  YOu could also try doing it through a real estate broker, one who is experienced in negotiations.
Let me know what happens; I'm interested.
