Builder Dropped the Price |
| |
 |
I am building a home and have a $2000 deposit against it. I was just informed they have droped the price $20K. Is the builder obligated to reduce the price of the home since we have not closed at this point? |

Your contract would say whether the builder was obligated to give you the same price reduction. My bet is that they're not. But you may be in a fairly strong position, if you're willing to take some risks. You might threaten to drop out if you don't get the reduction -- that would probably be much more effective and not so risky if it were done by a lawyer negotiating for you. It might be worth the lawyer's fees, if you had the right one talking for you. YOu could also try doing it through a real estate broker, one who is experienced in negotiations. Let me know what happens; I'm interested. |
