Air Conditioner Died

I just purchased an FHA Home - I went to closing on the 16th of May - the week after I moved in the air conditioning system died. I have spent hundreds to find out that the system needs to be replaced. There was no warranty on the purchase and now I need to replaced a $3,000 air conditioning system. Do I have any recourse here, can I get some help from somewhere?

You have a valid claim for reimbursement if you can prove that the seller knew there was a problem and deliberately failed to disclose it.   One way that sometimes happens is that the neighbors tell you the seller was wrestling with the air conditioning system all the time, or that the repair person you call has a record of previous problems.  But if the seller didn't know the system was in danger of failing, I don't suppose you can hold them responsible for anything.
If you think you have a case, small claims court is a simple inexpensive place to pursue a claim of that amount.
