My wife and I decided to have a house built in January. The builder's sales representative told me that it would be finished in June or July which was great news for me because I am a teacher and that would allow me to finish my school year here in Virginia and allow me time to be hired for a job in Texas. Typically teachers are not hired until the end of a school year. My house will be finished early (by the end of April) and builder's sales rep said he is under pressure to close on the house sometime in May. We can't close because we don't have jobs yet (which we knew we probably wouldn't have yet) and the lender obviously won't let us borrow the money for the loan until we have letters stating that we have jobs. What would suggest that we do?

I haven't seen your purchase contract, which should contain some of the answer to your question.  It would have been a good idea to have it reviewed by your own real estate lawyer before you signed it, and at this point a lawyer is your best bet for advice.
