Ask Heather about: Mortgages, Finance, Taxes or Home Selling?

Who to HIre

I have relatives and friends in the real estate business. I am ready to sell my home and am in a quandry as to who should list the house. In the past, a relative has cut off all ties with one of our children because they did not use his services even though he had only been in the business 6 months and claimed to only be interested in "ranch properties". This caused a terrible problem within the family.

My husband saw something on TV on this subject and it said the seller should "interview" agents to find the best qualified listing agent.

What are your thoughts on this and how would you go about interviewing agents?

Thanks for your help.....we want to keep all of our friends and relatives!!!

If you have that many people to consider and can only list with one, perhaps you'd be better off explaining to all of them that you decided the best course was to go with a stranger.
As for interviewing --call three or more companies that are active in your neighborhood (look at for-sale signs and read ads).  Invite them to send someone over.  Then just sit back and get the benefit of their advice, the data they bring you etc.  You'll find the right one to list with, I'm sure.  But tell all the others promptly what you have done and why.
