Licensed in One State

Is it possible to obtain a real estate license in one state and buy and sell real estate in another?

Ye, it's possible.  But (assuming that by "buy and sell" you mean "for other people, collecting a fee") it would involve getting licensed in that second state.  Some states will recognize licenses issued in certain other states, some won't.  The word used is "reciprocity."  Usually it allows the out-of-state agent to obtain a license in the non-resident state without meeting all that state's requirements.

But when you say "buy and sell real estate" -- if you mean for yourself, properties you own, then of course no license is required no matter where the real estate is located.
