License after Felony

Hi: About 30/35 years ago I was convicted on a felony charge and was given 2 years probation and paid a $500 fine. Nothing since. I am interested in taking a 63 hr. program leading to a licence to sell real estate in Florida. Should I first take the course and submit all the documents required when I pass the school exam or first submit my application and note my background in full. I dont want to take the course and pay if I would not be approved.Your advice is appreciated. Bob

In my state, anyone convicted of a felony can not get a real estate license, unless he or she has secured a pardon or a certificate of relief from disaabilities.  I don't know if that applies in Florida, but the people who run the real estate school should have the answer.  If they don't, call the state REal Estate Commission and inquire on your own.  (I'm told that securing that Relief From Disabilites document is not all that difficult.  You may want to consult a lawyer about it.)
