Husband is a Realtor |

My husband is a Realtor. I am wanting to get in on the game as he is off to a great start. Should I be a loan officer or a mortgage broker or what? I feel if he has a real estate license I don't need to also get one...What do you think? |

You need a license if you're going to sell real estate, or even assist your husband by, for example, holding an open house on one of his listings or giving information about houses over the phone. Beyond that, if you're interested in the mortgage business, becoming a loan officer means working for a lending institution. Being a mortgage broker might mean working for yourself or for someone else. Which you choose depends on what aspect of the industry interests you. In any case, you'll need some study to go into any of those fields. Depending on which you choose and on your state law, you may need a license. |
