Hosting a For-Sale Site |

I am looking into starting a home by owner site in my city. I just want to let people upload thier information and images. I will not promote individual homes. Just allow them to load their info for a fee to the site. Is this in violation of any real estate law? I do not have a real estate license. I will basically be doing what the newspaper does. |

You've asked a really interesting question, and it's been answered in different ways at different times and in different states. I hesitate to tell you that you shouldn't need a real estate license simply to post information. Big sites like eBay, Craig's List and Zillow have run into some complications, though. YOur best bet is to contact the Texas Real Estate Commission and discuss the matter with them directly. Or have your lawyer do it -- if you're starting a new venture, you should certainly have your own lawyer. Let me know what you find out; I"m interested. |
