Company Owner

Does the owner of real estate company have to be a broker?

The answer depends on what you mean by a real estate company.  You don't have to be a broker to become a developer, buying land, building on it, selling your property.  You don't have to be a broker to run a real estate investment company, buying and selling your own holdings.  But if you're going to run a brokerage company, collecting commissions for helping other people buy or sell, perhaps hiring licensed persons to assist you, then yes, the owner must be a broker.  If it's a corporation, in most states at least one of the owners must hold a broker's license.
