Buying in Another State |

Hi, If a person lives in Virginia and wants to buy a piece of property in North Carolina, could they use a Virginia based realtor or do they have to find one in North Carolina? Thank you |

It's not clear if you have a specific piece of property in mind, in which case there may already be a North CArolina broker involved. If you know the property and it's not listed with an agent, you could buy directly with no broker at all. If you're talking about searching for property in North Carolina, your Virginia agent's license would not cover work in another state. If you are interested in involving a specific Virginia agent, your local broker could always look for a referral fee from a North Carolina agent. But in general, the answer to your question is "no." The two states don't have any reciprocity in licensing. |
