Agent's Listings |

Where do real estate agents get their listings from? |

 |
Many experienced brokers get most of their listings from referrals--sellers who thought the agent did a good job marketing their property, and recommend them to friends. Salespersons just starting out have to look for listings -- perhaps contacting "for sale by owner"s and offering advice, even cold-canvassing by telephone where the law allows. Agents sometimes pick a "farm" area, where they introduce themselves, distribute neighborhood newsletters, sponsor kids' teams, volunteer for local jobs, so that the homeowner who wants to sell is already famliar with them. Many agents make it a habit to pass around their business cards freely "Will you do me a favor? Just keep this card and if you ever need real estate advice just give me a ring." It's amazing how many people will do just that. |
